General Machining Guidelines:
H1150 condition:Best machinability (similar to 304 stainless)
H900 condition:Requires carbide tooling and reduced speeds; expect shorter tool life
Threading:Roll threading is preferred for improved fatigue resistance and galling resistance
API Threading Considerations:
Threads should be cut or rolled per API 7-2 specifications.
Use thread compounds to prevent galling in high-stress connections.
Shot peening after threading improves fatigue resistance in cyclic loading.
Heat Treatment After Machining:
For components requiring localized hardening, induction or flame hardening is possible.
